Works begin on new Baldivis Primary School

  • First sod turned for new Baldivis South Primary School
  • Brand new $17 million school to open for 2021 school year
  • Construction to create about 300 local jobs
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has turned the first sod at the site for the future Baldivis South Primary School (planning name) with construction now officially underway.

When complete, the new primary school will accommodate 430 students from kindergarten to Year 6 in state-of-the-art facilities that will feature five early childhood classrooms, three learning blocks providing 10 general classrooms, an inclusive education classroom, and a specialised art and craft room.

Staff and students will enjoy a covered assembly area complete with a canteen, music room, sports store, gardener’s facilities and a uniform store.

The plans for the new school also include grassed play areas, an oval, playing courts and a cricket pitch.

The school will officially open for the 2021 school year and will ease pressure on enrolments at surrounding primary schools in Perth’s growing southern corridor.

The new school will be built by WA company Crothers Construction Pty Ltd.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“Young families in the popular Baldivis area will benefit from this new state-of-the-art primary school in their local neighbourhood.

“I am proud the McGowan Government is building another state-of-the art school to provide local children with high-quality education and a wonderful environment in which to learn, play, and make friends.

“It is also great that the construction of the school will provide local jobs for an estimated 300 building industry workers, as well as provide employment opportunities for teachers and other school staff.”

As stated by Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby:

“Hundreds of families in the southern part of Baldivis will be very happy the McGowan Government has committed to building this brand new primary school.

“The school is being built in the middle of a fast-growing neighbourhood and it will be a relief for parents to know their children will be attending a great new school that’s close to where they live.

“The State Government’s investment in local schools in the Baldivis electorate has been phenomenal.

“We’ve seen Wellard Primary, Ridge View Secondary College and the new Sheoak Grove Primary school open in each of the past three years. Baldivis South Primary will open in 2021 and a new primary school will open in Wellard Village in 2022.”
