Works to begin on reconstructing Bay Road in Mount Martha

MPSLogo_News.jpg

Mornington Peninsula Shire will begin works shortly to reconstruct Bay Road in Mount Martha due to a landslip that occurred in July 2021.

Following a specialist engineering investigation and design, the Shire has now appointed a contractor to undertake remediation of the slip.

Delays on works commencing have been due to industry wide shortages in both suitable qualified geotechnical and design engineers, and construction materials due to supply chain issues

With final reconstruction plans confirmed, and materials sought from across the state, works are expected to commence in May and to take around four weeks, weather dependent.

Council will endeavour to keep Bay Road open under the traffic control currently in place throughout the remediation works. If circumstances change, updates will be provided notifying those directly effected of possible closure.

We would like to thank those impacted by the traffic controls in place for their patience. Unfortunately it has not been safe to reopen the closed lane during this time.
