Works to create new female-friendly changerooms at Western Oval

The $730,000 upgrade of the Pleasant Street South facility, funded by the City of Ballarat and the State Government, will create female-friendly changerooms and amenities, umpire changerooms and amenities, public toilets for the reserve and storage.

This project is part of a program of sports facility upgrades that aims to ensure female-friendly facilities are available at all sporting facilities across Ballarat.

The Western Oval is used by multiple sporting groups including, AFL, Cricket and Ultimate Frisbee.

While the works are underway, there will be no access to public toilets at this reserve and the community is asked to instead use the closest public toilets located at the Yacht Club, Lake Wendouree, at Moreshead Park in Rubicon Street and at the Victoria Park Inclusive Play Space. The new facility is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.

The City of Ballarat’s current $16 million upgrade of local sporting and community facilities will support increasing participation in soccer, cricket, football, netball, bowls, ultimate frisbee, tennis, hockey, BMX, cycling, skateboarding, athletics, active recreation and more.

It’s anticipated that the current project program will be completed by the end of 2021.
