Western Australian football fans will be able to experience the excitement of the FIFA World Cup in the heart of Perth, with matches to be broadcast live on the big screen at Northbridge Piazza throughout the tournament.
The Northbridge Piazza live site will provide a vibrant gathering place for supporters to cheer on the Socceroos and enjoy key matches featuring football powerhouses from around the globe, creating opportunities for WA’s diverse multicultural communities to come together and celebrate the world game.
The initiative is expected to attract thousands of visitors to Northbridge, supporting local restaurants and businesses while showcasing the precinct as an entertainment destination.
It will also build excitement ahead of Perth hosting blockbuster matches between Italian clubs AC Milan, Serie A and Coppa Italia Champions FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus and Palermo in August as part of WA’s Winter of Unmissable Sport.
To cater for the influx of patrons expected in venues across Perth during the World Cup, approved licensed venues will also be able to take advantage of extended trading arrangements, allowing fans to enjoy the atmosphere before and after games.
The Piazza will feature a range of fan engagement activities with Perth Glory and Football West during Socceroos broadcast matches.
The FIFA World Cup, which gets underway on June 11, remains the most-watched sporting event on the planet and the Northbridge Piazza live site will provide local fans with a memorable way to experience the occasion.
