Would-be burglar fails and falls

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identity a man following an attempted aggravated burglary in Richmond last month.

A group of three offenders attended a residential property on Burnley Street, Richmond, about 6.30am on 27 March.

An unknown male offender has rung the doorbell of the property before leaving the scene and returning about five minutes later.

CCTV footage captured the man standing on a letterbox at the front of the property before climbing onto a balcony.

The man attempted to force entry to a door on the balcony but failed to gain access.

The man can then be seen jumping down from the balcony and tumbling into a garden bed below before the trio flee the scene.

It is believed at least one of the three offenders was female.

Police have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries in relation to this matter.

He is perceived to be of Caucasian in appearance with a medium build.

He appears to have distinctive tattoos on his neck, face and leg.

The man had short hair, shaved on the sides with a “man-bun” on top.

He was wearing a long sleeve shirt, shorts, runners and at times he put on glasses and a floppy hat.

Anyone with information related to this incident or who recognises the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
