Wound with intent to murder charge in Sydney City

A man is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today charged after allegedly drugging his flatmate then hitting him with a hammer.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to a unit block on Day Street, Sydney, about 6.15pm Friday (29 May 2020), following reports of an assault.

Police found a 26-year-old man in a bedroom suffering head injuries.

He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition being treated for two skull fractures as well as cuts to his head and a fractured hand.

A second man – also aged 26 – was arrested at the premises before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital under police guard.

A crime scene was established, and a number of items were seized and taken for further examination.

About 4pm yesterday (Saturday 30 May 2020), the man was released from RPA and taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder.

Police will allege in court the man hit his flatmate in the head with a hammer.

The man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 31 May 2020).
