WWII heritage RAAF building to open to public on Ballarat Heritage Weekend

Are you a fan of aviation history?

Yes! Then why not drop into the former WWII RAAF Ballarat precinct at the Ballarat Airport this Ballarat Heritage Weekend.

The Ballarat Branch of the Air Force Association will open their rooms in the recently restored WWII former RAAF Officers’ Mess building to the public, with everyone invited to come along and speak with members over a coffee and biscuits.

Other highlights over the weekend include:

– Classic and vintage car display

– Military vehicle display

– Running machinery and engines display run by the Ballarat Engine and Machinery Preservation Group

– Sausage sizzle

From 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon the Sing Australia Choir will perform songs from the 1940s to add to the WWII heritage theme of the weekend.

The ‘Friends of the Anson’ museum and the Aviation Museum will also be open all weekend.
