Wyndham’s Young Person Of Month 4 March

Wyndham City is proud to announce Howard Chang as the One Wyndham recipient for March.

Howard passionately advocates for increased sporting opportunities that are accessible for children in Melbourne’s West.

He noticed there was a lack of facilities for children wanting to play Volleyball in Wyndham. To resolve this, he created a ‘not for profit volleyball club’ so that children could play the sport. He raised more than $4,000 and now has 30 young volleyball players.

He also helped out at as a program support officer at the 2023 Winter Basketball competition through The Huddle.

Howard’s dream is that everyone in Melbourne’s west has an equal opportunity to purse their passion, talent and interests. He aspires for a future that is inclusive of all sports, especially in schools where students feel comfortable in their environment to try new things and feel supported.

Participating in Wyndham’s Student Representative Committee in 2022 and in 2023, Wyndham’s Emerging Professionals Network has strengthened Howards’ communication and public speaking skills so he can further advocate, inspire and motivate young people.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Jennie Barrera said: “Wyndham City appreciates Howard’s dedication and commitment to raising the profile of sports that traditionally have not had a high profile in Wyndham.”

“Howard is a thoughtful and positive leader and champions inclusion and accessibility. Well done Howard.”
