You can have your say on future of Bundilla Beach

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin, in collaboration with local architect firm Hames Sharley, today opened a stakeholder and community engagement process for the development of a masterplan for Bundilla Beach which will deliver a comprehensive plan for the area including short, medium and long terms goals.

The aim of the staged and prioritised Bundilla Beach masterplan is to activate and transform the Bundilla Beach area and to create more opportunities for recreation and leisure.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said City of Darwin was seeking input from stakeholders and the community to aid the design of a plan that would revitalise the Bundilla Beach area.

“We want to hear from you about your aspirations, needs and preferences for the Bundilla Beach area,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“Preserving Bundilla Beach’s environmental, cultural and social value is a critical goal for this masterplan and I am looking forward to seeing something very special created for this beautiful place,” he said.

City of Darwin has committed $500,000 for the masterplan and the first stage, supported by $3 million from the Northern Territory Government, which will see several key projects incorporated into the short-term plans, including improved recreational spaces, a dog park and lighting upgrades.

“We are seeking feedback on what will enhance Bundilla’s natural beauty while delivering more recreation opportunities and a higher level of amenity for the area,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“Community feedback will be critical to getting the masterplan right, so we encourage everyone to have their say over the consultation process.
