Northern Territory Battle of The School Band winners, Mulga Bore Hard Rock have scored their dream gig, performing the opening act for KISS at their final Australian performance this Saturday, the End of the Road World Tour.

The band, who originate from the small community of Mulga Bore in Central Australia, took out first prize at this year’s NT Battle of The School Bands performing their very own written songs Let Me Rock and Roll and Big Train. These originals will be played along with three KISS cover songs during their 30-minute opening set in front of thousands of KISS fans.

Rebecca McLean, the band’s film maker has been working on creating a documentary to share the amazing story behind the family school band from Mulga Bore. Ms McLean had the idea to contact KISS in hopes that the 6 piece band could meet their idols during their final Australian tour.

Mulga Bore Hard Rock band wrote to KISS in March and in August received the news that they had been invited to perform alongside their idols.

“I think they were in shock. They went quiet. Then it hit them, and they have been dancing ever since,” Ms McLean said after telling the band that their dreams had come true.

The band have been busy rehearsing ever since the KISS invite was announced to be happening.

“We’re practising every day. Were excited to go, this is our first time going to the Gold Coast,” Mulga Bore Hard Rock front man Alvin said.

Principal Pesala Brown of Mulga Bore School has accompanied the band in their endeavours in and outside of school since the beginning.

“The band showcases the kids’ talent and passion for music, and their positive attitude at school,” Ms Brown said.

The family band made up of brothers and cousins, guided by parents, aunties and uncles, and led by front man Alvin Manfong was inspired by KISS through their music and unique looks.

The dream gig of the Mulga Bore Hard Rock band will take place this Saturday night, 10 September 2022.
