Hills residents can now discover the new Withers Road Reserve in North Kellyville, a place to relax and reconnect with nature.

The reserve and nature-themed play space was officially opened by the Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, on Saturday 19 August with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

This recreational area is a significant addition to the growing North Kellyville community, boasting an array of exciting features that everyone can enjoy.

“This park includes a fun and engaging playground protected by a shade sail. There’s also a half court for basketball enthusiasts, a lush grassy expanse perfect for backyard activities and games, and pathways that are fantastic for walking, bike riding and scootering,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“The drawcard of the Withers Road Reserve is the natural vegetation that envelopes the park. We’ve preserved as much of the existing trees and vegetation as possible, which not only ensures essential shade, but also establishes a haven for local wildlife, including birds, lizards, and insects.

“Withers Road Reserve will become a beloved green space, especially for our young ones and families.”

The park, which is situated across the road from shops and cafes, is also home to 300 trees, winding sandstone steps, and a cozy picnic shelter with ample seating.

The design of the play space was influenced by feedback from the community, resulting in a seamless blend of natural and playground elements.

Mayor Gangemi thanked those who contributed to outcome of this new reserve.

“I would like to thank our Council officers and our contractors who made our plans a reality,” he said.

“Most of all, I would particularly like to thank our residents, for working alongside us as we built Withers Road Reserve, and as we continue to build North Kellyville.

“It is a top priority of Council to roll out infrastructure upgrades faster for our growing population, and I am proud we have been able to deliver this at Withers Road Reserve.”
