$10 Million to Boost Covid Response

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is investing an additional $10 million into Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services.

This one-off payment recognises the ongoing service and dedication from NTPFES members who have worked tirelessly to keep the community safe during the COVID-19 response.

The $10 million investment for Police, Fire and Emergency Services continues the $20M investment from last year to recruit additional constables and logistical requirements to specifically support COVID operations.

PFES is also continuing to operate the Emergency Operations Centre, Border Check Points as well as other activities to support the COVID-19 response. This funding will support PFES to ensure the COVID-19 response remains steady and agile, whilst keeping the community safe.

A dedicated Assistant Commissioner has also been appointed to lead the delivery of the COVID-19 Safe Freedoms Roadmap.

Quotes from Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Nicole Manison:

“They have played a crucial role in keeping the community safe from COVID-19 which is why we are investing an additional $10 million to have boots on the ground and ready to respond where needed.
