$100k grants for Queensland’s super community organisations

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence The Honourable Yvette D'Ath
  • Communities across the state are set to receive a boost of almost $21 million in grant funding.
  • 457 not-for-profit organisations received funding of up to $100,000 under the annual Super Round of Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program.

New defibrillators, ride on mowers, worm farms and a mini-bus are just some of the items community groups across the state will be able to purchase thanks to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund’s (GCBF) Super Round.

Of the more than 450 successful recipients, 32 organisations received the top grant amount of $100,000. This includes Foodbank Queensland who received $100,000 to support its invaluable work providing food to Queenslanders who need it most. Foodbank Queensland will use its grant to upgrade its facility to meet the growing demand.

Strong Women Talking – Marigurim Mubi Yangu Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders Corp in Brisbane received $99,972, to purchase a motor vehicle, office equipment and training. This will allow the organisation to enhance and expand their service to help break the cycle of violence against First Nations women and children.

Australian Street Aid Project in Mackay also received $100,000 to purchase a sleep bus that will provide a secure space for locals experiencing homelessness to have a safe night’s sleep and access other valuable support services.

This round received a high calibre of outstanding and innovative applications that offer substantial benefit to Queensland communities.

The committee is currently working to have the following round (round 117) finalised.

To support organisations to access much needed funding, the closing date for Round 118 has been extended until midnight 15 September 2023. Those groups that were unsuccessful for the Super Round now have more time to apply.
