$130,000 cash seized; man charged in Sydney

A man will appear in court today after he was found with $130,000 cash when he was stopped and searched in Sydney yesterday.

In October 2018, the Police Transport Command’s, North Central Sector Transport Action Group, commenced an investigation into drug supply throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area and interstate regions, utilising the state’s public transport network.

About 10.40am yesterday (Friday 4 January 2019), officers from the North Central Police Transport Command observed a man in possession of a suitcase entering Central Railway Station, Haymarket.

Police spoke with the man before conducting a search of the suitcase.

During the search, officers allegedly located $130,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and a substance believed to be cocaine.

The 46-year-old man was arrested and taken to Sydney City Police Station where he was charged with deal with proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 5 January 2019).
