Tasmania Police has welcomed 19 new constables into their ranks today, with recruit course 1/2026 officially graduating from the Police Academy.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis congratulated the new constables.
“These new graduates have completed an intensive 28-week course to successfully reach graduation day and achieve their dream of becoming a police officer,” Minister Ellis said.
“After honing their policing skills, our new constables will jump straight into our 24-hour Police stations and bolster our frontline.
“From surf life savers to customer service officers, our new graduates have come from all walks of life, bringing valuable perspectives that reflect the community they will serve.
“As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we are investing in our police, with a record 1,479 officers keeping Tasmanians safe.
“Over the past decade, our Liberal Government has grown Tasmania Police by more than 30 per cent.
“We are proud to see more Tasmanians choosing a policing career and we will continue to support pathways, like the innovative Northern Recruit Course, that encourage people to join.”
The 19 new constables – 10 woman and nine men – will be deployed to Burnie, Bridgewater, Devonport, Hobart and Launceston stations.
