The 2022-23 State Budget is designed to strengthen Tasmania’s future and deliver for all Tasmanians.
The Budget will continue to focus on what matters to Tasmanians: health, education, housing, and building safe, inclusive, thriving communities.
The Government understands the current pressures being placed on household budgets from world events beyond our control.
That is why this Budget provides a significant investment into concessions, with $305 million to support vulnerable Tasmanians in meeting the cost of water and sewerage, electricity and council rates.
The challenges from the pandemic are not over but we must build on the gains we have made.
They include a record low unemployment rate of 3.8 per cent and full-time employment at its highest level ever, with 171,100 Tasmanians in full-time work.
That’s 11,100 more full-time jobs than the same time last year, encouragingly more than half of which were won by women.
Thanks to our responsible Budget management, we are getting the Budget back on track.
While we’ve been busy delivering the State Budget, the Labor party has taken another six-week holiday during the Federal Election campaign.
The question remains, will Dr Broad follow through with his talk of wanting greater expenditure and produce Labor’s first alternative Budget? Or will he continue to mislead Tasmanians into thinking he would do a better job, despite not having done the work or having any policies?
It’s only the Tasmanian Liberal Government that have the proven record and experienced team to continue to support Tasmanians, our businesses, and our community, as we strengthen Tasmania’s future.
