Port Stephen
Council’s parks and reserves volunteers have been busy at work since the weather has improved.
Our volunteers should be proud of all they have achieved, with hectares of areas weeded, regenerated and maintained for the community and natural environment.
Some key projects driven by volunteers over the past few months include:
- Memorial Park, Karuah hillside planting in conjunction with the public school.
- Birubi Lane, Anna Bay mature banksia plantings.
- Fly Point Native Gardens, Nelson Bay near completion of the rhyolite pathways through the reserve.
- Kent Gardens, Soldiers Point planting of twenty koala feed trees.
- Bridle Path, Nelson Bay West significant progress in regenerating the much-loved pathway.
- Ngioka Nursery, Nelson Bay procurement and propagation of hundreds of native plants to support landcare groups.
The above list is most certainly not exhaustive of the recent work completed across our environmental reserves by our dedicated volunteers. Supported by Council’s Volunteers Support Officer, and by all this wonderful weather.
