The most vulnerable people across the State will receive continued financial and social support after the NSW Government approved more than $25 million for community service providers.
Funding of the Community Grants Programs will be extended for 12 months while an open tender process is held across the five programs.
Minister for Fair Trading Eleni Petinos said the Community Grants Programs provide funds to not-for-profit organisations across the State.
“The Community Grants funding will provide essential assistance to those in need through rental advice, financial counselling and advocacy,” Ms Petinos said.
“The work these organisations do is vital in easing the burden on disadvantaged people and families, alleviating financial stress, and ensuring access to housing.
“As cost of living and housing pressures continue to rise, these grants will ensure crucial services continue to operate and families are supported through tough times.”
The Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Program funds 21 service providers including seven in Sydney, eight in regional areas, four Aboriginal service providers and two state-wide resource services.
Programs to receive funding include:
- Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Program ($13.9 million)
- Financial Counselling Services Program ($9.6 million)
- Aged Care Supported Accommodation Service Program ($1.1 million)
- Home Building Advocacy Service Program ($320,000)
- Strata Collective Sales Advocacy Service Program ($500,000)
