As a result of council’s lobbying during the 2021 Upper Hunter by-election, council received a $25M Special Purpose Grant from the NSW Government to improve the condition of the shire’s road network.
Following this announcement, council staff prepared a project selection matrix to determine the roads for rehabilitation under this grant, which was agreed to by the former councillors and approved by Transport for NSW.
Council has previously adopted a program of rehabilitation works across 2021-2026.
