3 reasons to choose a wool face mask for everyday use

For many, non-medical face masks have become an increasingly important wardrobe staple. Some masks can leave the skin feeling irritated and cause unwanted breakouts.

Wool is an incredibly versatile fabric that can be used in everything from sweaters to runners with its lightweight texture allowing it to have a breathable and comfortable feel on the skin.

Australian sheep producers are world leaders in producing high class, durable and sustainable Merino wool. Australian Merino Wool is a sustainable, comfortable and fashionable alternative to traditional polyester and synthetic fabrics.

When it comes to face masks, wool face masks offer the required protection and have the added benefit of being soft on the skin, regulating moisture and being reusable (making it better for the environment!).

They also looks great!

  1. Odour resistant

Wool face masks are naturally odour resistant due to the fibre’s unique properties. Wool fibres can absorb large quantities of water vapour – twice as much as cotton and 30 times as much as polyester – helping to keep the skin drier and prevent the build-up of sweat, bacteria and unpleasant smells. The unique chemical structure of wool also enables it to absorb and lock away odours which may develop, and only release them on washing.

2. Better for the environment

Wool is a 100% biodegradable fibre. Unlike synthetic and microplastic fibres such as polyester, wool is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fabric that will decompose on disposal. This means that it won’t end up sitting in landfill or polluting our ocean.

As a natural fibre, a wool face mask is able to be washed and used multiple times. They can be worn again and again, provided they are washed correctly after each use. Wool masks should be hand washed in warm water (no hotter than 40°C) with wool detergent and dried in sunlight. Wool is a 100% biodegradable fibre, does not contribute to microplastic pollution and will decompose on disposal.

3. Next to skin softness

Merino wool is famous worldwide for its next-to-skin softness, strength, innate versatility and technical benefits. It’s fibres are ext

Merino wool fibres are extremely fine, enabling them to bend far more than traditional, coarser wool fibres. This makes Merino wool feel soft and luxuriously gentle next to your skin.
