$50 million investment to spur housing boom in Central Australia

NT Government

Yuendumu, Yuelamu, Laramba and Nyirripi have become the focus of the Territory Labor Government’s remote housing program in Central Australia.

A period contract worth nearly $50 million has been awarded to Centrebuild.

The Alice Springs based company, which is a joint venture partnership between Centrecorp and Asbuild NT, will construct new homes and extend existing homes as part of the Room to Breathe program.

The contract duration is three years with an option to extend for two years, offering locals sustainable employment and training options including the opportunity to complete apprenticeships and certifications.

There will be at least 42 homes built across the four communities and more than 30 homes extended and upgraded. The first tranche of works, worth $5.5 million, will deliver seven houses in Yuendumu and three in Laramba.
