ABC Sport & Australian Open partner to bring Australians closer to the action

ABC Sport and the Australian Open are delighted to announce an agreement for audio rights to Australian Open 2024.

This is the first partnership agreement between the two parties since 2015 and will allow the ABC to bring all the highlights from Australia’s premier tennis event to audiences live and ad free via our ABC local radio network and ABC listen.

The ABC will have a strong roster of commentators with Corbin Middlemas, Matt Clinch, Andrew Moore, Quentin Hull, Ned Hall, Lauren Bordin and Catherine Murphy being joined by John Alexander, Roger Rasheed, Richard Fromberg and Alicia Molik providing play by play commentary of the big matches, with a focus on Australian players across the draw, plus all the big finals.

ABC listen is the best place to hear all the action, where audiences will be able to hear the morning and evening sessions live and uninterrupted each day of the tournament, through a dedicated Australian Open button.

The ABC will support our live coverage with content unpacking the action from the competition across our platforms.

Of the agreement, ABC Head of Audio Ben Latimer said: “The ABC is committed to making our iconic sporting moments accessible to all Australians. I’m delighted we have the opportunity to bring the Australian Open to our audiences live and free on our broadcast and digital platforms.”

Cedric Cornelis, Tennis Australia’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “We are delighted to partner with the ABC in an agreement that will allow existing and new fans alike to experience the thrilling action of the Australian Open.”
