Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body elects new Chair and Deputy

The newly elected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body met for the first time this week and elected their Chairperson Lynnice Church and Deputy Chairperson Tanya Keed.

Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Rachel Stephen-Smith attended the first meeting of the fifth Elected Body and congratulated all members on their appointments.

“I look forward to working with Lynnice, Tanya and all members of the Elected Body to ensure we are delivering effective policies that make a real difference to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Canberrans.

“The Elected Body members offer a wealth of experience and knowledge from a range of backgrounds and all share a passion and commitment for improving outcomes for their community,” said Minister Stephen-Smith.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body provides direct advice to the ACT Government with the ambition of improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Canberrans.

The Body plays an essential role in the implementation of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019-2028 and represents the ACT as a member of the Coalition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peak Organisations for Closing the Gap.
