Detectives have laid further charges against a man as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged serious assault and kidnapping of another man in Sydney’s west last year.
About 12.30pm on Monday 25 November 2019, two men entered a workshop on Links Road, St Marys, and allegedly assaulted a 36-year-old man using a firearm.
During the assault, the man was knocked unconscious before being kidnapped by the pair.
About 10.30am the following day (Tuesday 26 November 2019), the man was located in a shed on a property at Shanes Park by three members of the public, who contacted emergency services.
The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition and treated for a fractured skull and severe injuries to his head and body. He has since been released from hospital.
The State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from Nepean Police Area Command, commenced inquiries under Strike Force Methuen.
So far during the investigation, strike force detectives have charged three men – aged 36, 39 and 40. All three remain before the courts.
As part of their ongoing inquiries, officers received information that the 39-year-old man had allegedly threatened and stalked a woman, who is known to him, between December 2019 and January 2020.
Following further investigations, officers re-arrested a 39-year-old man at a correctional facility in Silverwater about 1.30pm last Friday (3 April 2020).
The man was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic), install/use tracking device to find person no consent and acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order.
The man appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday (4 April 2020), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 8 April 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Methuen are continuing.
