Adventure park plans go on exhibition

Kempsey Shire Council

Macleay Valley Recreation Adventure Park Architectural Plans

Our community has the opportunity over the next month to inspect the plans for the Macleay Valley Recreation Adventure Park at the Kempsey Airport.

The adventure park will provide residents and tourists with an entertaining attraction and will include a rock climbing and sky diving centre, BMX pump track, canopy swoop pond, accommodation and more. This will be a vital economic boost for the Mid North Coast region.

Residents are invited to have their say on the proposed plans for the adventure park after a planning proposal and development application were placed on public exhibition.

The planning proposal is the first step in allowing the construction to take place on land at Kempsey Airport. The application asks for the Kempsey Local Environmental Plan to be amended to allow activities on the land including indoor recreation and tourist accommodation, consisting of serviced apartments, hotel and motel accommodation and backpackers accommodation.

you can view the planning proposal and related documents at KLEP2013-AM-34, PP-2022-529 20 Airport Road Aldavilla.

This layer of planning and development is explained on our planning proposals page.

If the planning proposal is successful, separate approval is still needed before works begin.

A development application has been submitted seeking approval to develop the adventure park. Due to the scale of this proposed development, the development application has been referred to the Northern Regional Planning Panel for determination.

As Council has submitted this development application, a consultant town planner is independently assessing and providing advice directly to the Northern Regional Planning Panel.

You can view the development application and related documents at DP1144474 – 20 Airport Road Aldavilla NSW 2440

If the development application is successful, the adventure park will move forward and seek correct approvals to begin construction.

The planning proposal and the development application are on public exhibition until 5pm Monday 13 June 2022 and residents are invited to provide feedback. If you would like to make a submission regarding both the planning proposal and development application please make separate submissions.
