Altona North Embona Taskforce detectives are investigating following an aggravated carjacking in Wyndham Vale earlier this year.
Police have been told a delivery van was stopped on Ferry Close to make a delivery about 9am on Tuesday 30 June.
As the driver walked to the rear of his van, he was approached by a man in a black mask and holding a black handgun.
The man demanded the driver’s keys, who threw them on the ground and ran to a nearby address.
The victim stated he saw a red Audi following him earlier in the day and that vehicle was also seen in Ferry Close at the time of the incident driving off with the van.
The delivery vehicle was located later that day on Showbridge Way, Werribee.
Police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries and the Audi, which is yet to be located.
The offender is described as 172-175cm tall with a solid build and was wearing a black mask, a dark-coloured jacket and black pants.
The 43-year-old victim was not injured during the incident.
