Ai Group backs decision on SA Designated Area Migration Agreements

The Head of Ai Group in South Australia, Stephen Myatt, today welcomed the agreement between the Commonwealth and the South Australian State Government establishing special Designation Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) in South Australia.

“The two agreements will greatly assist South Australia to have key skills in key areas,” Mr Myatt said.

“On the back of expected growth in our Defence sector and expansion plans in regional areas such as Whyalla through GFG’s reinvestment in the Whyalla Steelworks, the DAMAs will play an important role in delivering much needed skills to ensure this work can be completed.

“Most of our members are presently concerned about two issues. On the one hand it is the cost of power (both electricity and gas) and on the other hand it is tangible concern about how the State will fill its future skills pipeline, given the extraordinary opportunities which are presently before us.

“The DAMAs will play a much-needed role in solving at least one of these issues,” Mr Myatt said.
