An icon of Melbourne’s north is getting a grand makeover

Hume City Council is now taking booking enquiries for the redeveloped Town Hall Broadmeadows ahead of the much-anticipated reopening of the iconic venue in October.

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore said the building was being transformed into a contemporary space for weddings, corporate, private and community events.

“We’re breathing new life into an old dame of Broadmeadows,” Cr Moore said.

“The Town Hall has been a fixture in the landscape of Melbourne’s north for more than half a century and this makeover will see it enter an exciting new chapter in its history.

“This venue holds a special place in the hearts of many in our community – it’s hosted weddings, debutante balls, gala dinners, cocktail parties, school dances, concerts, parties and even an AC/DC concert since it first opened in 1964.

“By restoring key architectural design features we have retained the building’s unique history, while transforming the interior to provide a vibrant and contemporary space that exceeds modern expectations of a function facility.

“Catering for intimate and large-scale events up to 800 people – and everything in between –

our expansive space is a blank canvas for you to make your own.

“Whether you’re planning a wedding, birthday, engagement, christening, gala dinner, cocktail party corporate or community event, Town Hall Broadmeadows is the perfect destination for your next event.”

The building’s grand façade, iconic red brickwork, floor-to-ceiling windows and mountain grey gum floors have been painstakingly restored. Historic and new elements have been combined to create a large event hall, StartNorth coworking space, art gallery and commercial offices.

Cr Moore said the new facility would be complemented with a team of staff who have more than 30 years’ experience working across the hospitality and event industries, with a passion for delivering an exceptional standard of service.

“This experience and passion for delivering extraordinary events will ensure guests leave with a lasting memory of warm hospitality, having enjoyed a majestic building that will once again serve our community for many decades to come,” Cr Moore said.

Town Hall Broadmeadows is owned and operated by Hume City Council. The more than $23 million redevelopment project includes a $7 million contribution from the Victorian Government.

The venue is scheduled for completion in October 2019.
