ANZAC Day commemoration ceremonies in Northern Grampians Shire

Northern Grampians Shire community members will have the opportunity to pay their respects at a number of ANZAC Day commemorative services this Thursday 25 April in Stawell, St Arnaud and Great Western.

In Stawell, a dawn service will be held at 6am in Main Street at the Stawell Cenotaph, followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Stawell Entertainment Centre, catered for by Stawell Tennis Club.

A wreath laying service will also be held at 11am at the Stawell Cenotaph.

In St Arnaud, a dawn service will be held at 6am in front of the St Arnaud Town Hall, followed by a breakfast at Liberty Hall, 6 Raglan Street, St Arnaud.

A wreath laying service will take place at 10.30am on the corner of Napier and Market Streets, St Arnaud, followed by a march to Liberty Hall.

Entertainment will then take place from 11am-12pm.

In Great Western, a wreath laying service will take place at 9am at the newly refurbished Great Western War Memorial.

Mayor of Northern Grampians Shire Council, Cr Kevin Erwin said, “ANZAC Day is a very important day on the calendar and allows people to pay their respects for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.”

“It’s great to see that the numbers to the commemorative services in the area have swelled over the last few years so the memories are not forgotten.”
