Apartments project will deliver affordable housing boost for Beeliar

  • New apartments will provide more affordable housing choices in the City of Cockburn
  • Project supports building jobs and is expected to contribute $4.7 million to economy
  • Construction is well underway on a new two-storey apartment complex which will provide more affordable and diverse housing options in Beeliar.

The Department of Communities and Pindan Homes partnership will build 14 one and two-bedroom apartments at 31 Kowara Dale and provide high-quality, affordable and accessible housing for residents in the City of Cockburn.

Ground floor homes in the development – which is close to the local shopping centre, Beeliar Oval, Beeliar Primary School and public transport – will incorporate Silver Level Livable Home Standards to accommodate seniors and people with mobility or access needs.

Future residents will have easy access to employment, education and recreation via direct links to the Fremantle and Cockburn Central train stations.

Scheduled for completion in June 2020, the project supports the delivery of the State Government’s Affordable Housing Action Plan 2019-2020 by providing greater diversity of housing options in the City of Cockburn area.

As stated by Housing Minister Peter Tinley:

“The construction phase of this development will support an estimated 12 construction jobs and potentially deliver an estimated $4.7 million in economic activity in WA through its flow-on effects to other industries.

“It will also increase housing diversity in a suburb dominated by traditional single detached homes and address the shortage of affordable housing in the City of Cockburn.

“The project, located opposite recreational and nature reserves, will embody the important concept of People, Place and Home through the work of local artists commissioned to create art promoting the connection to land, people and environment.”
