Appeal after firearms and stolen machinery seized from rural property near Bathurst, NSW

Police are appealing for information after firearms and stolen machinery and equipment worth more than half a million dollars was seized from a property in the state’s Central Tablelands.

Detectives from Western Region, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad, established Strike Force Mactier to investigate the criminal networks in the state’s Central West.

As part of their joint inquiries, strike force investigators, assisted by the Rural Crime Prevention Team, Region Enforcement Squad and Police Rescue, executed a search warrant at a property on Warrys Road, Hill End, about 70km north of Bathurst, last Wednesday (25 September 2019).

Police seized four handguns, a tablet press, firearm scopes, and ammunition, two stolen vehicles and a small amount of MDMA.

About 12.20pm the next day (Thursday 26 September 2019), investigators returned and seized large machinery and earth moving equipment believed to be stolen or the proceeds of crime.

The equipment is valued at more than $500,000.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the property to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
