Appeal after two males stabbed in Merrylands

Police are appealing for public assistance after two males were stabbed during a brawl in Sydney’s west today.

About 7.40pm (Sunday 12 December 2021), emergency services were called to a park on Shannon Avenue, Merrylands, following reports of a fight.

Police were told a group of five males arrived at the park in a white Ford Falcon, where a second group of up to ten males had gathered.

A fight ensured and two males were stabbed – one in the chest and the other in the upper thigh.

A 17-year-old with stab wounds to the chest was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition. He is currently undergoing surgery and his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

A 19-year-old who was stabbed in the leg has also been taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition for treatment.

The larger group of males fled the park on foot down Clarence Street.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the incident and are appealing for information to locate the group of males.

The males are described as being of Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern and Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged between 17 and 22.
