Police are appealing for public assistance after a woman was assaulted with a bottle at a supermarket in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.
About 11.35am (Friday 15 May 2020), a 59-year-old woman was waiting at a checkout counter of a supermarket on Cartwright Avenue, Miller, when a man stood closely behind her and she asked him to take a step back.
While the woman was purchasing her groceries, the man approached her from behind and hit her head with a bottle he was holding. The bottle did not break, and the man left the store.
Police were notified and a short time later, officers from Liverpool Police Area Command attended.
The woman was treated by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution.
Officers conducted an extensive search of the area, but the man was not located.
As inquiries continue, police have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man depicted is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, aged in his 40s, about 175cm to 180cm tall, of a slim build and with dark hair and a beard.
He was last seen wearing a grey hooded jacket and black pants.
