Police are reappealing for information after the body of a woman was located on the state’s north coast.
A 71-year-old woman was last seen on Frances Street, Taree, about 10.30pm on Sunday 20 September 2026.
When she was unable to be located or contacted, officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.
Following an extensive search operation, a body was located in the Manning River by State Emergency Service volunteers, shortly before 10am today (Tuesday 22 September 2026).
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
To assist in inquiries for the Coronial matter, investigators are appealing for information to retrace the woman’s movements after she was last sighted.
The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall, of thin build with grey/brown shoulder-length hair.
She was last seen wearing a lavender floral dress and light brown sandals.
Police urge the public to check their CCTV cameras, dashcam or doorbell cameras for footage captured of the woman between 10.30pm on Sunday 20 September 2026 and 10.15am on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
