Appeal for information in ongoing Ashburton armed robbery and stabbing investigation

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify three males following an armed robbery and stabbing in Ashburton earlier this month.

It is alleged a group of eleven males approached a 16-year-old boy outside a train station on Welfare Parade, before he was stabbed with an edged weapon about 6.20pm.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other 16-year-old boys allegedly has their shoes stolen before the group of males ran away towards High Street.

Investigators have released CCTV footage and images of three males they believe can assist with their investigation.

Seven youths have been charged in relation to the incident:

• a 15-year-old Kew boy has been charged with armed robbery, affray, intent to cause injury and recklessly cause injury.

• a 15-year-old Maribyrnong boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

• a 15-year-old Richmond boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

• a 14-year-old Hawthorn boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

• a 15-year-old Tarneit boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

• a 14-year-old Richmond boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

• a 16-year-old Albert Park boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

They were bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Kew boy handed himself into police and has been released pending summons.
