Police are calling for information in relation to a near miss on the Bass Highway at Latrobe about 12pm today.
A white Ford Ranger utility was travelling from Devonport towards Latrobe on the Bass Highway, Latrobe. At this time another vehicle in front of the utility performed a U-turn in the entrance to TasFreight, failing to give way. The driver of the utility took evasive action by braking and turning into TasFreight, crashing into a tree stump and boom gate. The driver of the white utility was uninjured and avoided a potentially serious crash as this area of the Bass Highway is 110 km zone.
Police wish to speak with the driver of the other vehicle and are appealing to any members of the public that may have witnessed the near miss or may possibly have dash cam footage. Information can be passed on through Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or direct to local police on 131 444.
