Applications open for new rebate to help farmers with water infrastructure

Applications are now open to ACT rural leaseholders for rebates to install, repair or replace water infrastructure for their livestock or permanent horticultural plantings.

Federal Minister for the Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek said the On Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme, jointly funded by the ACT and Australian governments, will be an important tool to prepare more farmers for climate change.

ACT Minister for Water, Energy and Emissions Reduction Shane Rattenbury said the scheme will help address the damage caused by natural disasters to rural ACT properties.

ACT Minister for the Environment, Parks and Land Management Rebecca Vassarotti said these rebates will assist farmers to install, repair or replace water infrastructure for livestock as well as permanent horticulture plantings. This rebate will also help to improve rural resilience to drought.

Applications close at 5pm Monday 8 April 2024, or when funding has been fully allocated.
