Appointment to Federal Court of Australia 29 October

I am pleased to announce that Mr Scott Goodman SC has been appointed as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia and will commence on 11 November 2021.

Mr Goodman has been appointed to the Sydney Registry to replace Justice Jacqueline Gleeson following her elevation to the High Court of Australia. He was admitted as a Barrister in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2001 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2016.

On behalf of the Australian Government, I congratulate Mr Goodman on his appointment and thank him for his willingness to serve the people of Australia as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia.

Mr Scott Goodman SC

Mr Goodman graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Science from the Australian National University in 1989 and with a Master of Laws from the University of Sydney in 1994.

Mr Goodman specialises in commercial disputes and has particular experience in commercial law and equity, corporations law, trade practices and insurance law. He has extensive experience as an advocate, at trial and on appeal.
