The Albanese Government has reappointed Ms Simone Carton and Professor Kerrie Sadiq as part‑time members of the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) for a three‑year period from 12 October 2026.
The TPB is the national body responsible for the registration and regulation of tax practitioners.
The Government recently legislated for new powers for the TPB, part of a range of actions to increase community confidence in the integrity of the tax system.
Ms Carton is an experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO), lawyer and governance professional, and is currently the CEO of the ACT Law Society.
Professor Sadiq is currently a Professor of Taxation and Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the University of Queensland, visiting Professor to the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and part‑time editor for the Australian Tax Review.
Ms Carton and Professor Sadiq’s reappointments ensure the high level of skills and experience they bring to their roles remains available to the TPB, maintaining the strength of the Board and helping to improve the integrity of the industry by ensuring tax practitioners are meeting the appropriate standards of professional and ethical conduct.
