Prepare to never look at the humble household wheelie bin in the same way again. The award‑winning Trash Test Dummies are rolling into Ararat Town Hall for one unforgettable performance, bringing world-class circus, comedy, and family fun to local audiences. They will be appearing on
Tuesday 7 July 2026 from 11am – 12pm.
Since their Melbourne world premiere in 2013, Trash Test Dummies has gone on to win rave reviews and awards around the globe, including Best Children’s Presentation at Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2015 and 2016, and sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Receiving the runner-up Children’s Choice Award in 2016, the show has earned a strong reputation for delighting children and adults alike with its clever blend of slapstick, circus skills, and visual comedy.
Three dexterous dummies will take audiences on a journey into their limitless imaginations, with wheelie bins becoming cars, hideaway trenches, chariots, rocket ships, musical instruments, and equipment for circus madness. There’s music, dance, and epic immersive action, with plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in the fun.
These extraordinary circus comedians – all graduates of Australia’s premier circus academy, the National Institute for Circus Arts (NICA) – are Jamie Bretman, Jack Coleman, and Morgan Wilson. Dummies Corp Co-founder, CEO, Artistic Director, and original Trash Test Dummies creator and performer, Jamie Bretman, says the show is often likened to a Pixar film, with something in it for everyone.
“It is targeted at young people, but it is just as enjoyable for adults,” Jamie said. “This means that kids can come with their parents and grandparents and there is something for everyone. Our audiences tend to laugh their way through the whole thing.”
Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer, Dr Tim Harrison, said Trash Test Dummies is a great opportunity for local families to enjoy a high-quality performance close to home. “We are really pleased to see a show of this calibre coming to Town Hall Ararat, giving local residents a chance to experience award-winning circus and comedy without leaving the region,” Dr Harrison said. “Events like this are about bringing people together, supporting our local arts venue, and making sure families have access to engaging, affordable entertainment right on their doorstep.”
Dr Harrison said Council is committed to supporting a diverse year-round program at Town Hall Ararat.
