It will be alleged that about 11.55pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Mitsubishi Pajero at the intersection of Warton Road and Shreeve Road, Canning Vale.
During the traffic stop, when officers approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly accelerated away, injuring a male police officer.
Multiple police units tracked the vehicle as it allegedly travelled through nearby suburbs, including Bibra Lake and Leeming.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed, bringing the vehicle to a stop a short time later, with the driver allegedly fled on foot.
St John WA paramedics attended the scene and provided medical treatment to the officer. He was conveyed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused 27-year-old man was apprehended by police about 6.10am on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, on Farrington Road in Murdoch.
The 27-year-old Scarborough man is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on 29 July 2026, charged with:

• Assault Public Officer (Prescribed Circumstances, Adult)
• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation)
• Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police
• Obstructing Public Officers
• Fail to Comply with Request to Give Police Personal Details
• Fail to Obey Order Given by an Officer
• Failed to Comply with a Requirement to Allow a Prescribed Sample Taker to Take a Sample of Blood for Analysis
