Arrests – Aggravated burglary – Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have arrested 4 offenders after an aggravated burglary in Tennant Creek last week.

Around 4:30am on Friday, police received reports that 2 men attended a residence on Casey Street, Tennant Creek, armed with sticks and timber. The men have allegedly threatened the single occupant before unlawfully entering the premises and stealing alcohol and cigarettes.

An altercation has occurred inside the premises with the victim managing to take one of the pieces of timber, suffering a minor laceration to his right arm. Both offenders fled the scene.

Police attended and a crime scene was established with forensics in attendance.

Witness’s statements indicated a pattern of behaviour was occurring in the area and police began monitoring the street and surrounds.

At 3:50am on Saturday, up to 5 offenders allegedly attended the same residence and stole property before attempting to flee the scene. Tennant Creek police quickly set up a cordon in the area and arrested 3 males, aged 12, 13 and 19 with a fourth male, aged 14, arrested later that day.

Superintendent Mark Grieve said “These arrests were once again the result of fantastic proactive work from the attending members. The community can rest assured we will be relentless in identifying and doing all we can to hold these offenders accountable for their actions”
