Assault and burglary charges at Kalinga

Detectives have charged two teenagers after they allegedly broke into homes and assaulted an elderly resident in Kalinga today.

It will be alleged around 11am a boy and a girl broke into two homes on Roseleigh Street, threatening occupants with a knife and demanded car keys.

In one incident, it will be alleged a 78-year-old woman was assaulted by the boy while she attempted to leave the house.

It will be further alleged the boy broke into another house before threatening two women, aged 50 and 42 with a knife.

Police located the boy and girl a short time later in Dawson Parade at Kalinga.

The 78-year-old woman was transported to hospital for treatment of lacerations to her forearms and minor injuries. The two other women were not physically injured in the incident.

The 16-year-old Wilsonton Heights boy has been charged with one count each of wounding, serious assault person over 60, two counts each of enter dwelling with intent whilst armed, common assault, depravation of liberty and one count each of enter dwelling, enter premises and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He will appear in the Brisbane Childrens Court tomorrow, February 13.

The 15-year-old Kearneys Spring girl has been charged with two counts of enter dwelling and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of a drug utensil. She will appear in the Brisbane Childrens Court on February 23.
