Assault in Perth – Charges

Perth Police have charged two boys in relation to a number of assaults in Perth last night, Friday 23 August 2019.

It will be alleged that around 10.30pm, a man aged in his 20’s was struck to the head with a glass bottle from behind, near the intersection of Murray and Barrack Streets.

The victim was taken by St John Ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital. The victim was treated and has since been released from hospital.

It will be further alleged that another assault took place near the intersection of Hay and William Street a short time later, where punches were thrown at a man aged in his 20’s resulting in minor injuries. Shortly after this, another male aged in his 20’s was assaulted along Hay Street Mall. No injury was sustained.

Two boys were arrested by Perth Police shortly after.

A 14 year old boy from Swan View has been charged with:

• Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm

• Common Assault in Circumstances of Aggravation

• Possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property

• Disorderly behaviour in a public place

A 15 year old boy from Northam has been charged with:

• Common Assault in Circumstances of Aggravation x 2

• Carried an article with intent to cause fear

• Possession of unlawfully obtained property

• Disorderly behaviour in a public place

Both are due to appear in the Perth Children’s Court today, Saturday 24 August 2019.
