Gambling Harm Awareness Week

Manningham Council

Join us for a free screening of Shaun Micallef’s documentary Going for Broke as we recognise Gambling Harm Awareness Week.

The week, which runs from 24 to 31 October, is a statewide campaign that raises awareness of gambling related harm and the support available to those affected.

Gambling harm can impact anyone, at any stage of life.

In Manningham, more than $62 million was lost through electronic gaming machines (EGMs) in 2025-26.

This is almost $170,000 a day and $3 million more than the previous year. Across Victoria, more than $3.3 billion was lost through EGMs for the same period.

While financial losses are often the most visible impact, gambling harm can also affect mental health, physical wellbeing, relationships, employment, study and broader community wellbeing.

We’re committed to reducing gambling harm in our community.

As part of Gambling Harm Awareness Week, we’re partnering with Monash, Maroondah and Kingston councils to present a free online screening of Shaun Micallef’s ABC documentary, Going for Broke.

Following the documentary, hear from gambling harm prevention experts and learn about the support available for those affected.
