Heaven-sent $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win arrives at the perfect time for Gladstone man

A Gladstone man believes his $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win was a sign from his beloved late wife, who passed away shortly before he bought the ticket.

The Central Queenslander’s top prize winning $5 Crosswords Colour Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Nextra Valley News, Shop 1E, Gladstone Shopping Centre, 184 Goondoon Street, Gladstone.

“I didn’t believe it for a whole week! I’ve never won anything before, maybe just a few small meat raffles!” he explained.

“My wife passed away and I had that ticket sitting in the drawer since then.

“After she passed, I took a heap of tickets down to cash in. The cashier put one aside and asked if I knew how much I’d won. I said, ‘I don’t have a clue what I’ve won, mate!’.

“He cashed the rest and said, ‘You’d better claim this one because we can’t pay it out here’. I had no idea what I’d won.

“I bought myself a new ute because the one I had was about 24 years old. It was perfect timing.

“I’ll also help my daughter and son-in-law. They know about the win and couldn’t get over it!

“I really wish my wife was here to experience the win but maybe she is looking down on me.

“Thank you very much!”
