Perth Detectives have charged a man in relation to the attempted delivery of Methylamphetamine to a person in quarantine at a WA Government-managed COVID quarantine hotel.
About 12:15pm yesterday, Friday 1 January 2021, a man attended the quarantine hotel on Adelaide Street, Perth and indicated he was there to drop off some take-away food to a person who was in quarantine. The man appeared to be acting in a nervous manner.
The food items were inspected by police officers and security staff based at the hotel and it will be alleged four syringes were located secreted inside a thickshake drink, and a clip seal bag containing about 1.2 grams of Methylamphetamine was located secreted inside a hamburger.
Further evidence was located which indicated he had been communicating with a person in quarantine in relation to delivering a quantity of Methylamphetamine to the hotel.
Perth Police attended the hotel and took the man into custody. Perth Detectives took carriage of the investigation.
A 52-year-old man from Beaconsfield has been charged with ‘Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell/Supply (Methylamphetamine)’. He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday 29 January 2021.
