Attempted Murder Charge – Alkimos

Joondalup Detectives have charged a 24-year-old man in relation to an incident in Alkimos yesterday, Friday 31 July 2020, which left another man with a gunshot wound.

About 3:30am police attended the area around Callosa Crescent, Alkimos after several calls were received in relation to people approaching residences for help.

Police and St John Ambulance attended and a 27-year-old man was located with what was believed to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital for emergency surgery, where he remains.

It will be alleged the injured man was shot inside a residence in Bellini Gardens, Alkimos. He was being driven to receive medical treatment when the vehicle he was in crashed on Marmion Drive. At this time several nearby residences were approached to seek assistance.

A 24-year-old man, who is related to the 27-year-old man, has been charged with ‘Attempted Unlawfully to Kill’. He has been refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Saturday 1 August 2020.

The 24-year-old man was also taken to hospital for injuries he had received during the night. As such, his planned court appearance today may be conducted as a bedside hearing.
