Detectives from Whitsundays Criminal Investigation Branch have today charged a man with attempted murder following an incident in Jubilee Pocket which resulted in police making an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) on May 19.
At approximately 2pm on the 19th police attended a Erromango Drive unit complex to conduct a welfare check.
Upon arrival, it is alleged a 44-year-old Jubilee Pocket man barricaded himself inside, while armed with a compound bow.
Over the following four days, police negotiated with the man and it will be alleged he shot numerous arrows at police officers, who had to take evasive action.
On several occasions, it is further alleged these arrows caused damage to police vehicles.
At approximately 7.30am today (Monday, May 23) the 44-year-old man was taken into custody and the emergency declaration revoked.
No one was injured over the course of the incident.
The 44-year-old man has been charged with six counts of attempted murder and two counts of wilful damage of police property.
He is expected to appear before Bowen Magistrates Court tomorrow (Tuesday, May 24).
