Auckland Transport must commit to flyover

The New Zealand National Party

Auckland Transport need to provide certainty to the people of East Auckland by committing to the promised Reeves Road flyover, Pakuranga MP Simeon Brown, and National’s Botany candidate Christopher Luxon says.

“Registration of Interest documents released by Auckland Transport this week are noticeably lacking any significant mention of the Reeves Road flyover, despite funding being promised,” Mr Brown says.

“The Reeves Road flyover is a critical piece of infrastructure for East Auckland. It will connect Pakuranga Road to the Pakuranga Highway, the busiest non-state highway in the country.

“The busway also can’t operate without the grade separation on Ti Rakau Drive that the flyover will provide. In short, this flyover is vital for unlocking much-needed congestion relief,” Mr Brown says.

“In the documents released by Auckland Transport, the Reeves Road flyover is no longer considered a critical component of the project. The documents allow whoever wins the busway contract to design something quite different.” Mr Luxon says.

“The East Auckland community has been promised a Reeves Road flyover and expect it to be delivered. The flyover must be a part of the Eastern Busway project, full stop,” Mr Luxon says.
